Research scope and other activities

Please refer to the publications page for my most recent studies. My research interests lie primarily in Computational Social Science and Natural Language Processing. More broadly, I work on NLP models and computational methods that recognize social aspects of language and model language use in social contexts, with a focus on multilingual and social processing, including bias, abusive language, misinformation, and related phenomena.

To help clarify research fit, the following areas are currently outside my research scope.
  • I am not interested in monolingual or polyglossia/dialect-focused work, including ArabicNLP, ArabicNetwork, ArabicHCI, or Arabic-focused application areas.
  • I am not affiliated with the IWAN group and do not currently have work with them.
  • I am not interested in cybersecurity, defense applications, gaming, healthcare, biology, pandemic-related applications, applied educational applications, urban/city or transportation-domain applications, political analysis, political bias analysis, policy, privacy, or pure network science.
  • I am not interested in applied science applications, startup or entrepreneurship projects, pure business models, or pure ethics/policy science projects.
  • I do not work on sustainability, big data, game applications, science of science, religious studies, financial or medical data, robotics, IoT, or sign language.
